Hardwood Floor Installers

When choosing a hardwood floor contractor, skill is important, but there are other factors to consider.  Most hardwood floor installations will require several days to several weeks to complete.  You have to be comfortable having flooring tradesmen in your home, or you will have a bad experience waiting for you.  Since installing hardwood flooring can not be duplicated by a machine, everything is done by human hands.  These human hands are being controlled by an individuals attitude, passion, desire, etc.  Your ability to receive a superior installation depends on the installer being totally focused on your project; carefully planning and executing each step so that the process of quality can be fulfilled.

Have you ever received service from someone that really took their job seriously?  You probably ended up having a pretty good experience overall, right?  This was no mistake, it was chosen by you and the service provider.  Communication was probably the most important factor in the sucessful end result.  If everything is discussed up front, then accurate expectations are possible for all parties concerned, and trust and confidence are the building blocks upon which you can really begin to feel at ease.

These were the emotional aspects to consider when choosing a hardwood flooring installer.  Obviously, skill is very important, as well as knowledge about a hardwood floor installation.  The physical process of a hardwood floor installation begins with an assessment of the current sub floor.  In a perfect world, the subfloor would already be very flat, with no surface imperfections or coatings.  This is not usually the case!  Here in Phoenix, Mesa, Chandler, Gilbert, Tempe, Scottsdale, and other surrounding areas, the age of homes and the quality of the sub floors vary greatly.  The entire valley we live in contains "expansive soil."  This soil causes many sub floor concerns, expecially when trying to install hardwood flooring.  This is where the desire and passion of an individual can make the difference between a perfect installation and one which is "typical."  It requires a focused and dedicated installer or flooring company to address these concerns and not gloss over them.  The very foundation of your hardwood floor is riding on this!  Most installers have never been trained in the art of flattening floors, which include grinding and leveling methods, because those which taught them, really had no idea either.  The equipment is expensive, and it takes great patience and skill to know how to do this efficiently, including knowing the correct process to minimize disruption and dust.  It is not uncommon for a majority of installers to have absolutely no equipment for even the simpliest of floor preparation, and will install your hardwood over the existing sub floor without ever investigating if it is suitable or not.  This "attitude" of most installers can spell disaster for a manufacturer's warranty on your material.

Do you want an installation that is totally turn-key?  How about one where the floors, baseboards, work and living environment are left clean and pristine, ready to be inspected and lived on?  Once again, this is something that is "chosen" by the the company and installer, and is not typical of most installers'.  Very often, the homes we work in are left cleaner than when we started.  It's how we do things, and what we would want ourselves if we were the homeowner!

In the end, a perfect installation begins with the desire and passion to do an exceptional job, then mixes in skill and knowledge along with great communication, and ends with choosing to deliver a great experience to the homeowner.
