Laminate Floor Installer

When choosing a laminate floor contractor, try to find one that will go the extra mile and finish off the installation professionally.  By this I mean someone who for example, will "undercut" the doorjambs, hearths, thresholds so the laminate can be installed under them.  Some installers will not do this, and the job can look very "choppy."  A laminate installer who takes his profession seriously will suggest removing the baseboards first, rather than use "quarter round."  Quarter round has it's place around cabinets, but looks horrible around baseboards, particularly those with the "round" type of corners.

Levelness of the existing sub floor is important too.  People often believe that laminate can be installed over un-level sub floors just because it floats over padding.  This is not the case, since the locking mechanism of laminate depends on the sub floor having no humps.  A laminate floor seam that sits on top of a hump easily can come apart, and we have seen this many times on competitor's jobs.
